ABC's of Decorating

So you bought that house at a ridiculous price because of every foreclosure on the block. Or now you are renting a two for what you once paid for that shoe box studio. Your new palace needs new digs, but you don't have as many pennies to make your new home eligible for the pages of Architectural Digest. But wait! You now can cover those floors at a fraction of the price. The famed ABC Carpet and Home is having their antique rug clearance sale. This is the time to invest in an antique that will hold its value. You can save up to 65% off original prices. Not in the market for a rug? Well its your lucky day select antiques are 50% off as well. So head over to 888 Broadway to start decorating your place to look like an adults home and not like your former dorm room. Sale begins April 30th and runs until the 17th of May. You have a while to get your floors covered, and seats cushioned, but I wouldn't wait. The good stuff is going to go fast.

Free Cookies

Anthony's Cookies is celebrating their Grand Opening by dolling out free cookies this Saturday. Stop by 1417 Valencia St from 1-3 to enjoy some baked goodness. Options range from the good ole classics like Chocolate Chip and Peanut Butter or think outside the box and go for the Whole Wheat Walnut Oatmeal. Anthony’s Cookies has raised the standard for gourmet cookies through their detailed preparation. Using only natural ingredients that have not been processed they are able to serve original flavors, that are fresh, soft, and aesthetically pleasing. Head over to the new location to see what all the fuss is about.

Good Times, Great Oldies

So you have the oldies station preset as #1 on your radio dial and wished when you walked into a bar that the Ronnettes were pumping through the speakers instead of T.I. Well for all my Chicagoians I have a great event for you that happens the 1st Saturday of every month. At The Windy City Soul Club you can groove to hits from the 60s, 70s, and 80s once a month at The Viaduct Theater. How appropriate when acid wash jeans and neon brites are coming back. Starting at 10 PM next Saturday and for a small admission charges $5 you can do the Hustle all night long. Although you like to be fashionably late, I would advice not to. You may just miss the DJ spinning some Good Vibrations. Mark your calendar for May 2nd, grab your friends and head down to 3111 North Western Avenue, at Belmont Avenue for The Time of Your Life.

Want This, But Can Afford That

I just lust, LUST over Alexander Wang's bags. Can I afford them? No...Well if I want to go homeless for a month I can rock an awesome Donna Washed Hobo bag to the office and out on the town. But search for a good affordable alternative. I usually look to Steve Madden to help my fashion needs below the ankle, but this time they have filled a new void. So the next great option to my handbag dreams is the Balexa. At a fraction of the cost, this bag is similar to Wang's beautiful creation. It has the similar rough, punky zipper details. There are a ton of pockets for me to put all the stuff I schlep around with me every day. There is a reason I have shoulder issues. The Steve Madden version comes in 3 colors, black, white, and blue. I think the blue is a perfect option for the warmer months. The color is fun and goes with everything; it will give any outfit a pop it needs. I see myself wearing it with skinny black jeans, a black flowy top, and killer heels. The bag deserves to be the center of attention all on its own.

Yogana Love It

You have always wanted to try yoga, but never wanted to fork over $20 for an hour class to find out you can't nor never will bend that way. You need an excuse to give it a try at a much more discounted price; something along the lines of free. This weekend is your chance to see that yoga isn't as cracked up as you previously thought. Here in NYC at The Fierce Club, this Saturday April 25th, yoga classes are on the house. Not your traditional yoga class; music is more rock, than soothing Enya. However, this is a great way to try something at no cost. You may just fall in love with it. Classes run all day from 10AM to 6PM and are for EVERY skill level. So roll out of bed on Saturday, enjoy the beautiful weather, and take a break to just relax. You don't have to stress that you dropped $20 for a class you are so confused about. In addition to classes there will be free 10-minute mini Reiki treatments and free 10-minute chair and hand massages. So you pulled you hamstring doing downward dog? Have the massuse fix your problems. To make this even better, Sherry Eckhardt will be having a jewelry trunk show to display her recycled silver designs. The perfect item with which to celebrate Earth Month with. Liked the class so much? Now you need a uniform for when you show off your tree pose; there will be a trunk show for yoga streetwear trunk sale from Victoria Keen and other NYC designers. After you have perfected your Crow attend the open-air soiree, "Meet the Yogis." There will be a live jam with NYC band Emergency Service and mango-tini cocktails for you to sip from 6-7PM. Go find your inner peace and rock goddess at the same time.

Leave the Brown Bag at Home

As I was walking to work the other day, I passed the Food Exchange Cafe and noticed an advertisement in the window. Save 25% off all online orders until May 31st. Then I grabbed lunch the other day at Cafe Metro, and they are running a similar promotion until the end of April. On all online orders at Cafe Metro, you can save 20%. At Food Exchange enter code "25OFF" when compiling your online order and at Cafe Metro enter "20OFF." This is such a great deal, I wish these places were national chains, but unfortunately this deal is only available in NYC; so be sure to check online to see if there is a location near your home or office.

I will be taking a break from my boring PB&J and getting a healthy salad chock full of veggies. I usually skip the lunch time madness at these places because the lines are insane. With this deal I have to order online, and get to skip the hungry crazy suits. If I am too lazy to walk 3 blocks for my lunch they will even deliver my meal to my office. So with my belly full, I can now get back to the important things, my job. Bon appetite.

A Beautiful Convenience

Now that the weather is nice, the last thing you want to do is run errands. They take up too much time, and you end up buying stuff you never needed, nor will need in the future. The last time I was at Duane Reade I didn't need to buy the deep conditioning mask, but I bought it anyway. To prevent your frivolous spending, save time and money, pull up Drugstore.com to get all toiletries you need. They are currently running a promotion for up to 50% off all the essentials most people use. Check your bathroom cabinets and see what you actually need. Make your list and enjoy the convenience of their expansive selection. They will deliver everything you need right to your door. So there is no need to cancel your plans. Add to your basket, and checkout of dealing with wasting your lunch hour at the drugstore.

There is no doubt I love Costco. I go during lunch hour to sample all their treats. There is no denying when it FINALLY opened in Nashville, I was there for the ribbon cutting ceremony. Similar to the main character in Where the Heart Is, I could happily live in a Costco Warehouse instead of a WalMart. My fridge is stocked with Kirkland milk, my jeans are Calvin closeouts, and I watch How I Met Your Mother on their 60 inch Vizio TV; all purchased from Costco. My life is complete thanks to all Costco offers. If only I could take those advantages to another place, it would be the perfect one stop shop. Well much to my surprise, I now can take Costco with me on my next vacay.

Take Costco on vacay? Well not so much, but I can now use my membership for more than just a gallon of peanut butter. Costco offers a service called the Costco Traveler, to make vacations much more simple and affordable. They offer a selection of the world's most popular resort destinations, hotels, cruise lines, rental car companies and other vacation options. Currently for the month of April Costco Travel is running a promotion for 4 nights in Cancun, for $399 at Omni Cancun Hotel and Vilas. For about $100 a day, you will treated to all the perks of an All-Inclusive, an ocean view room, Resort credit to use on additional services. This is a great getaway for a quick break without breaking the bank. The promotion ends this April, but you don't have to travel until the end of August.

Looking for a bit more action? Costco can take you to the ends of the earth with vacation packages, or hotel deals. Wish you could experience the Changing of the Guard (or catch a glimpse of Prince William and Harry)? Costco can make it happen. Can't decide what place you want to visit on your next vacation?
Costco has cruise deals from Europe to crossing the Panama Canal. Visiting family and don't want to be at the mercy of their car? Costco can arrange a rental car so you can escape when your cousins have gotten under your skin a few too many times. If you have a travel wish, Costco can make it happen. All your friends will be jealous when you come back from Cancun with that killer tan.

A Fresh Spring

Spring has sprung, and your wardrobe is drab. Exclusivly online, Gap, Banana Republic, and Old Navy are offering 30% off their new arrivals. Enter the code: NEW30 upon check out. I love these fresh yellow jeans; they will look great with a navy blue blouse or sweater. I WILL be purchasing this orange dress. I am going to pair them with my pale pink Tahari heels, I got for a rediculous discount at Filene's Basement two summers ago. I could also wear this cute tee-shirt with those yellow pants for a fun spring weekend.

As for the guys in our life, we know they need some help. They hate to spend money on clothes, so this deal is a great way for them to throw away that dingy shirt, and update their look. I absolutley love the one argyle diamond on this tee-shirt. It will look super current with dark slim jeans, and a pair of clean chuck taylors. I do not want to see the super worn ones that have holes the size of quarters coming out. My pretend boyfriend will wear this the same day I rock the yellow jeans. It is so hard to get dressed in the morning during spring, because it is still cold in the early hours, but once the sun is out, you start to melt. So men, get rid of your hooded sweatshirts, and replace it with this kahaki peacoat. It is the perfect weight for the chilly mornings, and once you take a layer or 2 off you will be just as comfortable in the afternoon. As for the bottoms, if you have pleated pants, GET RID OF THEM NOW! They are a fashion crime, that deserves years behind bars. Instead get your man a pair of flat front dress pants, like these. They are perfect for the office, nights out on the town, etc.

This deal only lasts until the days end, so hurry up and buy buy buy.

Saks 5th Ave Friends and Family

Print this cupon out or use online for savings at Saks Fifth Avenue. They are even offering discounts on Jewelrey and Cosmetics. This is a rare occasion, so please take advantage of it.

For My Beantown Babes

Thanks to the Thrifty Stylist, she enlightened me to some deals happening in Boston.
Equilibrium on Congress Street is offering FREE mini-spa-services on April 15.

Beauty Mark at 33 Charles Street, on April 9, the is offering a $75 spray tan for only $10! Look like you just deplaned from St. Tropez, for Jersey shore prices

The Loft Salon on the Newberry street is giving away FREE shampoo and/or conditioner during Earth Week (April 21-25) for bringing in 3 recyclable bottles, or BOTH for bringing 5! Hello, being environmentally conscience will save you a LOT of money in the long run.

Snack Time

It gets to be that time of day when I want to bust out of the doors and head down the street to crumbs for a massive cupcake, that could run me almost $5. $5 for a cupcake? Absurd, I know, delicious YES. We are obsessed with them, but a daily habit will put a hole in my wallet and a spare tire around my current spare tire of a waist.

So I was parusing my favorite diet site, Never Say Diet, and my favorite columnist on the site Linda Vongkhamchanh had just published a way for me to snack great healthy foods, for super cheap prices. Check out Snacking is a great way to boost your metabolism just as long as you make the right choices. Linda gives us 8 options that are light on the pocketbook, but pack a nutritional punch. Have a sweet tooth? She has trail mix and popsicles. Need something salty before you comandeer the vending machiene for all the potatoe chips? There is hummus and edamame to fill that void. If you wanted to make all her options it would cost you under $30 for all the ingredients. Each recipie makes a number of servings, so your pennies will be streched, not your thighs.
