If You've Gotta Deal, Flaunt It

I guess in my subconscious I thought I had already told you about this. I guess its from my extensive twitter relationship that I figured my readers were all clued in. You are following me on twitter, right? But if you don't tweet, you must know about Signpost.  What Signpost does is bring everything that is great about social networking and deals into one place.  Since there are secret deals just waiting to get out, members are given the platform to tell everyone on the site about it.  I now know where to get 7 dollar ramen on a cold winter Monday night or how I can get a haircut for next to nothing.  There are deals that expire so be quick to get in on the savings, and then there are those that you can come back for seconds, thirds and fourths.  Signpost will often offer grouponlike deals for users, like the most recent one which was 2 burgers for $5.  Really where can you get a deal like that?  For those who use the site the most, they can become big deals.  Big deals get perks, like happy hours, or dance classes.  All the frugalistas and their friends get together and enjoy life on the cheap.  Since this post is brought to you from a bid deal who has plenty of karma points, I have head the pleasure of shaking my thang at a hip-hop class and if all else goes well I will be attending their happy hour.  Signpost has found the balance for bringing together the social aspect of the web by hosting meet up events for users to have fun together.  For me it has created a great deal finding network and I am scouring the site as I write this post for a dinner date with a friend for this week.

Group Star Savings

Groupon, KGB deals, Living Social, those are just a few of the coupon sites you buy from on a daily basis thanks to Yipit's daily email. Chances r you are not schlepping to X for Y or you really never see youreself waling the tight rope between 2 buildings. Or your the one who missed the chance to save 50 percent to risk your life. Maybe Lifesta will have that missed opportunity. Site is the eBay for group buying websites; it is a market place for you to buy and sell all of those daily deals that we need in our lives.  If you have a deal that you know you will never use, you list it on the site.  Then the person who keeps kicking themselves for letting it slide serendipitously stumbles upon your listing.  Its the perfect transaction.  You get your money back for that deal you have no idea why you purchased and the buyer gets exactly what they were looking for.  No worries about buying a fake; every transaction is guaranteed to be authentic by The Lifesta Deal Guarantee. To sell your deals you click "Sell A Deal" and follow the instructions. You set up your seller profile, tell them the deal and have an Amazon Payments account.  Simple enough.  Once the buyer is charged  the money is deposited into your account.  If you are buying, you will get an electronic copy of your purchase for you to print out at your leisure.  Now that you do not have to think twice about all those deals just buy them, you can always sell them to someone who is actually interested later.

Meat Mondays

When was the last time you went out for a steak dinner and paid for it.  Never, unless we are talking about the hockey puck I prepared last week with discount meat from Trader Joe's.  Stop worrying, my health is great, he he.  Now thanks to the Food Network's The Best Thing I Ever Ate, I can now afford a huge steak dinner on Monday nights for $15.  At The Butcher Shop Steakhouse in Memphis and around the south, each Monday they offer their epic special.  Where just a rib eye costs $25 on any regular night, you can have that with a baked potato and a salad for ten bucks off the asking price.  You most def are getting your money's worth.  This maybe the best steal and a half because just go to your butcher and your uncooked steak will ring up to the same price.  After the manic Monday you are probably going to have this is the best way to end the day with a meal you do not have to cook or clean.  Now when the bill comes, do not be shy, pull out your plastic and treat your party to a meal to remember.

On a recent trip to Six Flags my girls and I took a detour to the Jackson Outlets. Everyone said they were great, had huge selection of all the stores you want to save at. However, I was underwhelmed by this place. Yes they had your staples from J. Crew to Brooks Brothers but something was missing. But recently being the frugal momma that I am I took a drive up to Woodbury Commons Premium Outlets in Harriman, New York. Now this is the mecca of outlet shopping. Being my first outlet experience from my childhood, it has let my expectations down for future savings trips. Covering aces of land and having every off price store imaginable there is no reason to test out other outlet centers.  Ancorhed by one of four Ralph Lauren stores, the center spreads itself with impressive store fronts . There is something to satisfy anyone's shopping needs; unfortunately there is even an Ed Hardy store. Fashionistas strapped for cash head straight to apple court where there is a Prada, Off 5th, Last Call, and a Dolce & Gabbana just to name a few. Get this ladies I saw the coveted Balmain Zipper boots in multiple stores. The discounts here are legit and even come with more reduced at the register. If your in the city rent a Mint car. Visiting the city and bored for a reason, make your trip out here. The bags of designer goods you lug back into town will equal the bags of money you saved.

Tibesti Bet Online

Let's face it, Internet shopping is scary.  You never know exactly what you are going to get.  Is the picture right? Is the model really in children's clothing masked for women?  Is that post production of faux leather look like it is the highest Italian quality ever?  Chances are you have shopped on the Internet, and have been beyond disappointed by a box that UPS dropped off.  Then there is the whole return process which we will not even get started on.  Before you impulsively press pay now 1st head to Tibesti.  This site brings in product information, reviews, price comparison and cash back on all purchases.  There are more thank 5,00 reviews by a whole host of experts from hair stylists to journalists, to chefs.  Tibesti aggregates all third party reviews floating on the Internet for the products you are considering purchasing.  Scouring the web are Tibesti experts to find the best value for your hard earned dollars.  They want to highlight products you may have never heard of before that could revolutionize your life.  In addition, they search high and low for the best possible price.  There is incentive to use the site as well; if you purchase through them you can make cash back or have it donated to your favorite charity.  So the next time I stand on the mountain tops screaming for a size 10 All Saints Military Boot to magically appear I will first check Tibesti.  Disclaimer, I have given my lungs a rest as I now own these boots and take them off only to sleep and shower.

Upkeep Beauty on the Cheap

At the beginning of this little bligity blog I have been meaning to broadcast to the world the merits of getting your wig cut and colored at a styling school. However there have been so many deals and steals that have gotten in between these 200+ posts. So practicing what I preach, the weekend I made a desperate appointment to get freshened up. Let me tell you it has been ages, and I have not been wanting to dole the 50+ bucks out for a new haircut. So in a recent Time Out New York article they told me to make the 1st appointment available at The Carsten Aveda Institute. And I did; my wig could not handle another day looking like it did. So I check in and my stylist in training (SIT) picks me up and is ten times more professional than some of my other experiences. We had our consultation, she started snipping away, I read about the happenings of the Bachellorette, and she consulted with her teacher to make sure everything was going according to plan. Let's just say the teacher took scissors to my hair only once. The SIT knew what she was doing. She blew my new wig out and I was ready for my Saturday night. At the end of the day, I got a faboosh hair cut for $25 including tipo. In addition to a cut you can get a facial, conditioning treatment with their aromatic products, have your make up done, and get highlights. Ladies and gents this is not a NYC specific phenomenon. Just go to any outstanding, cutting edge salon in your neck of the woods and find out if they need models. Yes models, hair models. The SITs will be at the end of their training and the teacher will be watching every snip so there really is not much to worry about. You are getting a service from a professional who is invested in doing their best job. Prices for these services are always reduced. The only problem is with your new fab do is the next time you go to get a cut your SIT prob will just be a stylist, aka prices quadruple. If you are loyal start saving, if your like me fresh start fresh style.

Head of the Class Dining

You love to eat out, but with this recession it seems like you can build a sculpture out of all those empty Chef Boyardee cans that have accumulated. Back in the day your sink rarely saw a dish, and your fridge constantly kept a bottle of ketchup cold for the occasional use. Well its about time you ventured outside for a meal. Take full advantage of this weather and sip a glass at a sidewalk cafe. You deserve it, but you do not deserve to pay full price. No one ever should. This is when you move to the front of the classroom and check out what is on Black Board Eats. All you need to do is sign up for the free email and the exclusive, handpicked dining deals at the hot spots and hidden gems start rolling in. In addition to the exclusives they highlight the offers and deals that restaurants are independently offering. Coverage runs the gamut from the pricey special occasion locals to the no-frills take a break from the Boyardee joints. Blackboard does the dirty work; they test the waters so you don't have to sort through every review ever written to decide if its good. They tried and they think you should buy. Now as the email reaches your inbox you have a whole 24 hours to buy into this deal, its similar to Groupon's concept. When you get to the dining establishment mention the code to the host, and enjoy your meal, the company you are with, and the extra money you have padding your wallet. Bon Appetite

Just Beat It

You want it, you need it, you just do not want to pay full price for it. Finding the best deal is similar to having a full time job. You already have one of those, that is what is helping you afford whatever it is that you are looking for. Now it is time to employee your new best friend, Beat My Price, brought you by the fabulous Retail Me Not. Say you want a new watch, but being that it is a hefty purchase you need to shop it. Find a site where you can purchase the item. Then you will type the name, website and the listed price into Beat My Price. Then click, and the website will work its magic. In a matter of seconds they scour the web for the best price out there. For this said watch I was able for find it for over $75 less. With savings like that I could buy a new pair of hot sandals for the warming months. This site is for everything from clothing, furnishings to big ticket electronics. Before pressing check out on all future purchases remember to visit your new friend, they have your best interest, aka your pocketbook.

Liquidating Tastes

I have known about this secret for fairly a long time, and now I am just revealing it to the world. Well it actually took a reminder on my recent trip to spread the savings with everyone. As I was gearing up to leave Nashville years ago, a savings mecca was setting up shop on West End Ave. Walking into the unassuming storefront, I was just checking out the newest shop in town. With no expectations, I was not exactly floored, but then I started drinking the Kool Aid. What flavor is this Kool Aid you ask? It is United Apparel Liquidators. The purpose of UAL is exactly what their name states. They take excess inventory from department stores and designer boutiques to sell to you for up to 90% off. I was just as shocked at that mark down when I was in the New Orleans location last week. I picked up a pair of thousand dollar Pierre Hardy shoes for about $200; its a shame my feet resemble the ugly step sister's and not Cinderella's. There was also the Thread Social dress that you could have spent $345 on, but at UAL it was available for $60. There are four UAL locations dotting the South East. Not in the South East? The brick and mortar stores are not the only place you can pick up these savings. Available to the rest of the world is the UAL eBay store. Do not worry it was available in every size so it is not like finding a needle in a haystack, you will leave with thousands of dollars worth of clothing by only dropping pennies.

Every Thursday From Here On, You Can Find Me Here

Tomorrow night is the start of the weekend. Who are you fooling that people actually get work done on a Friday? No one. So when you bust out of the doors tomorrow at 5 PM head straight to the Lounge at Park Grill in Chicago for $5 Thursdays. You read that right, 5 bucks for a happy hour deal, and I am not just talking drinks. Food is also a single Lincoln. After work you are starving and anything from the mini PG Burgers to the Cornmeal Crusted Calamari will satisfy your cravings. How about Prince Edward Island Muscles for the same price. Culinary score! Of course you have your standard fair of beverages for the same price. Talk about sustainable, all the beers are locally sourced from Midwestern breweries such as Riverwest from Milwaukee to Metropolitan Flywheel from Chicago. They probably don't even put the later on a truck; it is just wheeled down the street and put on ice. There is wine and cocktails for you to choose from as well. I would choose between the Arnie or the Rummrunner because they both sound delightful. Enjoy your evening, have fun, stop when you know you will at least be presentable tomorrow at work. I did not say you needed to be functional.

Skip Dinner, Go For Brunch

You know that super trendy restaurant in town? The one where you are willing to eat dinner at 10:30? The one where drinks are $15 and the entrees are the size of a quarter? You have been, I have been, we have all been. Now have you been for lunch or brunch. Recently I went to New York City's trendy Dos Caminos in Gramercy for a brunch with friends. Not my choice because I had been for dinner before and left broke and hungry. Well brunch was the total opposite. With the obvious Mexican twist no plate was over 15 bucks and you get one of their famous drinks included. The group I was dining with ordered a plethora of options from the breakfast quesadilla which could feed a small family to the pan torrejas (Mexican french toast). Finishing the plates would have been near to impossible even if we were starved, and may have been some of the best food we have ever eaten. So this may seem like a unique case, but let me set you straight. Most of these so-called fancy trendy places serve brunch and lunch were the food is the same and the prices are significantly cheaper. Also there usually is not a wait, and you will be able to sit down at a decent time. Don't trust me? Head to the site of the restaurant you have been itching to try and check out their lunch or brunch menu. Head over enjoy, and do not forget to ask for a doggie bag.

Let Them Handle The Searching

The initial point of Internet shopping was to make life easier. Then you search for sneakers, and one billion sites are returned where you can buy new kicks for your new year's resolution. Now stop furrowing your brow and head over to your one stop shop, Designer Apparel. Making your life a bit easier this site brings all the sales onto one platform. Sifting through hundreds of designers and sites to find you exactly what you were looking for. Do you have a couple of go-to brands that you treat yourself to? Sign up for their My Sale emails, where Designer Apparel will send you updates when your favorite brands have sales all across the world wide web. Once that deal pops up on your screen, click the link and you will be taken directly to the site housing the great deal. Shop and check out like you normally would; it is that simple. So now that you know the power of this website, what are you going to search for. If I could get some sick Louboutains I probably won't stop smiling for a week.

Mug Shot Prep

So you need to make sure your next mug shot looks like Paris Hilton's or you want to glow in all the upcoming holiday party pics. What is the best way to make sure you glow brighter than the rest in the group? A facial of course, but regular facials are even a better plan. But that could get pricey. Not if you head to Chicago's Blo Salon and Day Spa before the month's end. The perfect facial here includes pore cleansing, exfoliation, masks, and massages to rejuvenate you for the coming hectic days. For a whole hour, you will get a customized service to make your skin look as fresh and new as possible. For $90 you will get to experience this two times. Pizza Makes Everyone Happy

So happy hour at your fave bar just ended, but your happy time has just begun. In an effort to keep the party going you want to find a place that keeps it up on a budget. Just opened in Oakland, Marzano, has a happy hour that starts, not ends at 10 pm. For a whole 2 hours, you can refresh with $5 beers, $6 specially cocktails and sustain with $10 pizzas. Jonesing for something healthy (well balancing out all the beer)? Salads are the same 6 bucks as well. This happens every night. Amazing! So you know every night when your wallet is tight you can still have a good time. Grab your coworkers, friends, bum on the street and move onto here after all the other drink specials end. Or if you are an investment banker, this is when your happy hour starts, since you crunch numbers for hours on end.
